Fisler Foundation – A Message to our Fisler Family

A message to our Fisler Family

Fifteen years ago, a group of dedicated parents and teachers created the Fisler Foundation because they believed a public school could be more. Today, we honor their vision by taking the most ambitious step yet.

We are proud to officially launch the Fisler Endowment.

The Fisler Endowment is not another fundraiser. It is a declaration that our children deserve an education shaped by possibility, not limits. It is an invitation to invest in excellence at Fisler, invest in our children’s futures, and build a legacy that endures for generations. This bold step would not have been possible without the vision and support of our new principal, Dr. Llewellyn. Thank you.

When researching this idea, we looked at schools that started their endowments more than 20 years ago. Their stories were stunning. Public K-8 schools just like ours, now thriving with world-class programs, small class sizes, and opportunities most schools only dream about. When we spoke with their leaders, their message to us was unanimous and unwavering: “Do this. It will change everything.

Before Thanksgiving, we introduced the Endowment to Fisler’s teachers. We explained how it works, what it can fund, and how it will support the long-term vision of the school. Their response was immediate: they feel energized and inspired. The Endowment gives our teachers permission to think boldly and begin imagining new academic pathways, deeper support for students, expanded enrichment, and innovative programs for every child.

An endowment is a simple idea with extraordinary power. Over time, it can fund new academic programs, additional teachers and specialists, advanced curriculum, enrichment, and the kinds of opportunities that help a school rise from excellent to exceptional. Our goal is not just to cover shortfalls – it is to unleash Fisler’s potential and build a public school that stands as a model of what is possible when a community commits to excellence without hesitation or compromise.

And the momentum is already building. Several families and community partners have stepped forward with early support, including our first two FOUNDERS CIRCLE donors whose leadership gifts launch the Endowment with strength and confidence. Their vision and commitment set the tone for what comes next.

We are purposefully taking time to introduce this concept to the school community slowly. Our focus over the next couple of weeks will be to inform and inspire our Fisler Family to imagine the possibilities that the Endowment unlocks. We will answer questions, share details, and lay out the plan for launching our Sustaining Member drive in January. Watch the digital marquee, check Wednesday folders, and visit our website for FAQs and updates available in both English and Korean.
